SAGE Electrochromics, Inc. Press Release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SAGE to exhibit world’s most energy-efficient window glass at Solarexpo and Greenbuilding 2010 in Verona, Italy

Research from Italy’s University of Cagliari reveals SageGlass can cut building energy costs by 57% in Mediterranean climates

Faribault, Minn. (April 27, 2010) SAGE Electrochromics, Inc., the world’s leading developer of electronically tintable dynamic glass for the building industry, will demonstrate its revolutionary SageGlass® at the 2010 Greenbuilding conference, May 5-7, 2010 in Verona Italy.

Greenbuilding is the international exhibition and conference on energy efficiency and sustainable architecture. It is held in conjunction with Solarexpo, which has a focus on renewable energy and distributed generation. Together, Solarexpo and Greenbuilding represent Italy’s leading event for renewables and sustainable architecture.

At Solarexpo and Greenbuilding, SAGE will participate in the innovative SOLARCH exhibit (Hall 10, Booth E4.4), and also in the U.S. Pavilion (Hall 4, Booth F5.1). Dr. Helen Sanders, SAGE’s Vice President of Technical Business Development, will also deliver a presentation on the future of high performance building façades.

New research from Italy’s University of Cagliari reveals SageGlass® can reduce climate control energy consumption by 57% in a Mediterranean climate. Daylighting research conducted by the Italian National Agency for New Technologies, and the Italian National Research Council Construction Technologies Institute concluded SAGE’s dynamic glazing systems optimize the luminous performance of building façades.

SageGlass® is the world’s most energy-efficient window glass. It uses a nanotechnology-developed coating to change tint in response to changing sunlight and heat conditions, significantly reducing energy consumed for air conditioning, heating and lighting. SAGE’s newest product, announced in March, is the first to combine tintable dynamic glass with high R-value triple-pane construction, setting a new energy performance standard for the building industry.

Leveraging over $100M of US Department of Energy funding and Internal Revenue Service green manufacturing tax credits, SAGE is expanding its production capacity to mass produce the technology, making it an ideal time to exhibit SageGlass® within the European marketplace.

“Europe has been in the forefront of green building technology, and owners and architects place a premium on energy efficiency,” said SAGE CEO and founder John Van Dine. “SageGlass® enables more sustainable building design, superior building energy performance and an enhanced experience for building occupants. We believe European demand for our products will be strong, and look forward to showcasing our technology to potential customers and partners.”
